ESPN is happy - the big, bad Patriots are not in Super Bowl contention this season (though 9-8 is still very much on the table). All the establishment haters - the Rex Ryan's, and Ryan Clark's, and now the Sal Pal's are excited to see what they perceive to the the downfall of the great dynasty, led by Bill Belichick. For 25+ years, all they've been able to report is how awesome the Patriots are - another division title, another AFC championship, another Super Bowl - but now they have a new story in their head about Bill getting traded this offseason. To that I have on question: have you not learned?
Whenever they tried to make up fake controversies from Spygate to DeflateGate and every other piece of garbage yellow journalism in between, it only made the resolve of the Patriots that much stronger, and they kept on winning. Spygate - undefeated season, 3 more Super Bowls. DeflateGate - 4 SB appearances in 5 years. And not to mention, Sal Pal was run out of town by one of the great investigative journalists to ever grace Patriot Place in 2015:
So what are we doing here, Sal Pal? Take Bill Belichick, take Foxboro, MA, and take all things New England Patriots off your lips - comment on any other team, worry about Ugg Boot Sales, so whatever it is you do that keeps you employed at the Worldwide Leader, but just be careful about what happens when you start talking about Bill Belichick... you wouldn't like that version of Bill Belichick, and you very well may have unleashed him today:
Does it matter that the Patriots do not have a starting quarterback named for this week? Does it matter that they have been absolutely abysmal on that side of the ball the entire season? Does it matter that they clearly missed on their first round draft pick from 2021 and will need to go back to the drawing board this offseason? Does it matter that Belichick was (likely) framed on a Ring camera the week before the game in Germany doing the stride of pride in what would appear to be some random part of Scituate or Duxbury? No it does not. This Sunday the Patriots will be READY. TO. GO!
