The PGA Tour may have permanently passed baseball as the dumbest league out there. For all the fuss and uproar that LIV caused, all the emotional responses to cave in after not even a year? I am speechless. I do find the whole situation hilarious though. Like honestly, this is up there with one of my favorite things to happen in sports in recent times, I love the chaos. Wild that the sport delivering some of the best drama right now is fucking Golf.
I want to keep some structure to avoid me going on a hard to follow rant. I am not going to give you the play by play of what happened, just some call outs and my opinion. So I am going to start with what I find hilarious/shocking:
To be clear, I never really had a problem with any of the dudes leaving the PGA to go play on LIV. Except DeChambeau because he is just, kind of a chubby dweeb. Any of these "golf fans" who did have a problem are liars. I am a big reality guy so let's bring it back to reality here. A company comes around and says, "Hey we will pay you 10X what you make a year and you can actually work 1/3 less of the time, would you like to do it?"
All these people throwing a fit about LIV take that exact situation 12 times out of 10. So again, I don't have a problem with the dudes who jumped ship. In fact, hell, it helped some of them! I don't know if Brooks Koepkas stock has ever been higher than it is right now. Dude won his fifth major, went on an all time bender, and now is right back on the PGA with an even fatter monopoly money bag. I love it
There is a lesson somewhere he in all of this, however I am not the one to help us find it. Will watching professional golf really be any different? Probably not
Is this really that big of a deal? Probably not. Did the golfers who turned down LIV $ to be "loyal to the PGA" get absolutely hosed? Hundred percent, yes. The shitty thing is for those who feel slighted by the PGA tour, they now have no other options, lol. Back to business as usual this weekend for the Canadian Open, which no one really is going to watch. Then we'll forget about all of this just in time for the US Open next week before we are reminded in every interview and story they run during the tournament. Good reminder to us all that, money talks... and bullshit rides the bus!
Ryder Cup is going to be tough this year... real tough
