Top 3 Places to take a Hot Date (Stockton, CA Edition)

Was feeling inspired by B-Rider’s quest for love, as well as Dan’s suggestion for me to write about dating in your 20s. So you can think of this article as something that fits within the sub-category of Life in the Central Valley, but also an introduction into a possible series about dating as a young adult. Before I go any further, I’d like to mention that I’ve never actually taken a babe to any of these spots. But I think they could be prime locations, based on the arguments that I will make. I’ll have to test out each of these spots one day and keep our following up to date.

Let’s be for real, it’s Stockton and the surrounding area that we’re talking about. There’s not a whole lot of cool places to see and bring a date, but you gotta make do with what you have sometimes. Anyway, first spot on the list is going to be the Stockton Waterfront. Pretty cool place actually. Kind of reminds me of the Marina Greens Waterfront in San Francisco because of all the parked boats and whatnot. The Stockton Waterfront features a long stretch of walkway alongside the San Joaquin River. There are a couple of plazas, picnic tables, and benches positioned throughout this walkway and lots of nice greenery around. Another cool thing about the Waterfront is that it’s right in the vicinity of the Channel Street shopping center, which features a movie theater, sushi bar, coffee shop, and a couple of other local businesses. If you actually do find yourself on a date out here, the move could be to grab a coffee midday and walk and talk along the Waterfront. It’s not a super short walk either, with the total length of the pathway being half a mile or so.

The next spot on the list is a good location to venture to during the late afternoon/early evening. If you’ve ever heard of Stockton’s Miracle Mile, it’s just like any other main street in a small town. There are plenty of restaurants to choose from - Thai, Japanese, Korean… There are also a lot of small shops and businesses to kill time in. Since the Miracle Mile is located next to one of the two largest college universities in Stockton, it has several bars that are open late - my personal favorite being Black Rabbit. The nightlife on this strip thrives with college students, especially on the weekends, so that’s just something to be mindful of, depending on your game plan. I think there are two ways to go on a date on the Miracle Mile. 1. You can have a nice dinner around dusk during the weekday, and wrap up the night walking, talking, and window shopping along the strip. 2. You can turn up on the weekend, bar hopping with your date, dancing, singing, etc.

The last spot on the list is kind of dependent on the season and day, but still a great place to hang out at. Banner Island Ballpark is home to Stockton’s minor league baseball team, The Ports. There are plenty of home games to choose from during the season, but I’d probably opt in to catch a game during June and July, when you can enjoy a warm summer night while spectating. Banner Island Ballpark is also located right next to the Waterfront, so your options are open in terms of where you want to bring your date after (could grab dinner or could take a walk).

Hopefully I can put this top 3 list to personal use at some point. As mentioned above, I will keep everyone up to date and try to give ratings of each spot, if possible. God Bless.
