“Deputies seized so many cars this weekend that they had to store them outside of the sheriff's office's headquarters, requiring officials to work overtime to prevent anyone from getting to the cars.”
A little late to report on my end, but still some very exciting news nonetheless. For the past couple months, I have been giving my take on sideshows and how they’ve affected communities throughout the Bay Area and Central Valley. This being said, it was quite interesting to hear that local law enforcement has started to step up their efforts to crack down on these sideshows and disruptive takeovers alike.
A couple weeks ago, on a Friday night, a major sideshow was ensuing on the intersection of Pershing Avenue and Country Club Boulevard in Stockton. While crowds of spectators surrounded the various cars spinning in circles within the intersection, SJ County Sheriff’s deputies rolled up into action, entrapped the crowds and cars, and took control of the situation immediately. I wish I was able to find the actual video of the bust, because this chain of events sounded like it came straight from an action movie. Through this bust, the Sheriff’s Office was able to detain 150 people and tow away 88 cars.
How did they manage to tow away this many cars without interruption? I was told by a deputy that SJSO (San Joaquin Sheriff's Office) had contacted as many tow companies as they could and that all these tow trucks had arrived on scene one after the other, ready to take away the next vehicle. Where are these vehicles now and what will happen to them? The 88 cars that were towed away are sitting within the confines of the Sheriff’s Office, all parked next to each other. I have not found an official answer as to what will happen to these vehicles. However, they could be auctioned off, destroyed, or even be repurposed as duty vehicles.
SJSO was able to send a strong message with this bust, and hopefully this deters these types of disturbances for a little while. However, there will always be another group of people that will want to partake in this type of delinquent behavior, without fear of consequence. So we shall see what happens in the coming months. Hopefully I will have more to report.
Stay safe out there,
God Bless,
