I have been on layaway for over a week. Then out of nowhere I caused mayhem with my contract dispute, rattling Dan and man, that was so g-d worth it.
I wasn't sitting in a depressive state over the Sale 60-day IL news, but it didn't help. First off, mental health can be a tough thing to deal with. Shout out to all you Kings and Queens struggling through and just making it work. It's not easy but look at us thriving regardless. I digress.
Everyone, Red Sox fans and not, know the situation. Chris Sale signs massive extension post-World Series. Chris Sale is clearly injured. Chris Sale gets tommy John. Chris Sale gets hurt again. Chris Sale gets hurt again again. Chris Sale gets his finger shredded. Chris Sale falls off bike. There's your 2019-2022 recap. Mayhem and hell.
Coming into this year Chris Sale was smiling in spring training laughing and the vibes were up. His first few starts in April were rough, but understanding he hadn't pitched meaning innings in almost 2 years it was okay. Things turned around and they turned around fast. OLD Chris Sale was dealing. Our ace hath returned. The Red Sox finally had a top end of the rotation type guy out there pumping 97 and putting batters away. It was poetic and it was rewarding knowing what the guy had been through.
Injuries suck plain and simple. Look at a guy like Dustin Pedrioa. They derailed his promising career and Sale looks likely to be in for more of the same. Leaving the game against the Reds with shoulder issues was alarming enough and the resulting IL stint was expected. Now its been upgraded to the full 60 gamer and its a kick in the stomach.
I cant think of another player that I have rooted so hard for his success than Sale. The Red Sox are just funner when he's dominating. He's a gamer who brings so much passion and it's palpable. To see the train that was picking up steam come to a screeching halt sucks. It really doesn't matter who else can step into the top of the rotation for them Red Sox, because it was just so much more meaningful when it was Christopher Allen Sale. We may just have to accept the new reality - it ain't 2017 no more.
Hate to see it... Chris Sale was a real one, credit to B-Rider for battling and showing up !
