I don’t make the rules here, but hopefully this article counts for the other 2 posts of gratitude that I owe this company/Danny Dials. In my last post of gratitude, I described how appreciative I was for company outings. This next post of gratitude falls along the same lines, but I do think it's worthy of its very own article.
Without rambling any further, I’d like to say that I’m grateful for the company funded business trips that employees of OneTake Media, like myself, get to go on. We have done lots of filming up and down the state of California over the past year (and even out of state in some cases). However, I only define business trips as ventures where we send it to one specified location and end up spending at least one night there, in order to do some filming. Day trips (where we are in a designated area for less than 24 hours) and circle jerks (where we don’t do any filming at all - basically just a vacation - don't think we've taken any of these) don’t count.
I, like Charlie Kelly, have an irrational fear of leaving my hometown- in this case, Stockton California. However, these business trips have allowed me to explore new frontiers of the state and open my mind a little. So far, I’ve been on two of these trips and have had an awesome time on both of them. Back in February Dan and I, sent it up to North Lake Tahoe to wrap up filming for The Best Skier on the Mountain - which can be viewed here: https://onetakemedia.com/video/the-best-skier-on-the-mountain/ … Not only was the weather pretty sick, but I got to spend time with the other members of the cabin, aka “Day 1 followers of OneTakeMedia.com.” We even managed to get all the shots we needed and film a mini Capital J Journalism bit. I’d say it was a very productive trip, I’d rate it a 8.1 out of 10. Fast forward two months, and Dan and I decided to send it down to San Diego for a screening of the NCAA Men’s Basketball Championships (neither of us wanted to go, but still SENT IT). The video for that can also be viewed here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1-u_jiG_I9Q … I got to hang out with some of Dan’s hometown buddies - shout out Gastronaut and Stober - enjoy a company dinner at Outback Steakhouse (my first time there), take in the views of La Jolla Beach, and see Freddie Roach in the flesh. Solid trip, well worth the 8 hour drive each way… I’d give it a solid 9 out of 10.
I’d also like to share my gratitude for the trusty company vehicle that we have, aka Dan’s CRV. It has never left us stranded on the side of the road. That thing is a beast. More company business trips to come moving into 2024. Rumors of Producer Reese getting on a plane in late December for another one… we will see… rumors.
God Bless,
Producer Reese
