BREAKING NEWS: The Niner Gang is Officially BACK as the SF Niners Sign Mac Jones - do we have a QB Controversy in Santa Clara?

What a whirlwind we've seen over the last 72 hours in NFL free agency... we've got the Patriots throwing money around like it's 2021, Woody Johnson taking a $49 million cap hit getting rid of Aaron Rodgers, and now the biggest question free agency was looming over it all: where will the great and powerful MAC JONES land in his next stint? Today, we have our answer, and it's our hometown SF Niners.

One of the most storied franchises in all of sports and my second favorite NFL team since moving out to CA 10 years back, the Lynch and Shanahan led Niners have not had the hottest start to free agency. They lost some dudes - Deebo, Juszczyk, a few others that I don't know as well as my friend Tavis, and they are in pretty intense negotiations with another franchise caliber quarterback in Brock Purdy, set to become generationally wealthy with the stroke of a pen in the coming weeks. Could one argue that's actually a productive start to the period burning off some dead wood with guys that are likely a bit over the hill? Sure. But this move? This move right here?! This move puts them right back at the upper echelon of great offseasons that only come along once in a decade, if that.

Lots of talk about Jones these days... can he throw the ball more than 35 yards? Is he cooked? Does he eat too much ice cream? And to be fair, I do not have great answers to these questions. But what I do know is this: Mac Jones is a warrior. This is a leader of men - a man who can undoubtedly grow a great beard, but chooses not to. A man revered by his teammates and definitely not a franchise ruiner who ended the Belichick/dynasty era in Foxboro with his winey outbursts, mystery injuries, and consistently horrible decision making throwing pick 6's like it was his job in 2023 and only having minor success behind an all world OC with Josh McDaniels in 2021 and getting outplayed game after game by Bailey Zappe and also ended the Pro Bowl as we know it with some of the cringiest moments one will ever see and was definitely not awkward as hell pregame so much so that the Patriots social media team used to have to mute posts featuring him saying 'let's go' because of how bad it sounded. Indeed not...

The long and the short of it is this: I could not be happier for my friend and former colleague at two outstanding enterprises, Convet.it Incorporated, and OneTake Media, LLC. Two great companies we've worked for, two great friends, who also support two great franchises, and today, one of those franchises got undoubtedly better. Look at the reaction from Niners twitter already!

This signing now begs the question - could Brock Purdy be competing for his job in Santa Clara? Not sure how many pro bowls he has at this point! But that's neither here nor there at the moment... this is a night of celebration! Could the Niner gang be anymore fired up?! Doubt it! Cue the damn music!! #bangbangninergang

P.S. 90% sure I would be a better QB in an NFL game than Mac Jones - put me around NFL talent, give me some standard calls and throws between the numbers, and I'm confident I would be able to outperform Mac for one game and that's an open invitation to any and all NFL GMs out there who would like to take me at my word. Until then, Danny Small Biz will continue slingin' payment systems across this great city circa TI in 2018. God bless this company.
