Dear Coach Belichick,

How are you? My name is Dan - I liked when you coached the Patriots. Do you remember when you won many games? Also remember when they were never nice to you and said you were a grump all the time? That's not true - I think you are nice and your press conferences were my favorite.

This is a blog I wrote about you - I think you will be a coach again soon and then I will watch all of your games:

I think you have done a good job since this blog 4 months ago too:

How has it been in the media? I watched your show you did with Matt Patricia the other day and it was very enjoyable. You were talking about tackling fundamentals and reading old books. Which is your favorite football book? I have a copy of 'Football Scouting Methods' - that's mine. Do you think you could sign that for me one day? I'm excited to see all of your work in media - I think you will be very good. Maybe we could do an interview together since I also do media?

Glad to see you are now on the internet - remember when you watched our instagram story the other day? That was cool - I liked Chandler Jones singing that song about you and that's exactly what I was thinking when I watched the Niners beat the Patriots in Santa Clara last weekend. Do you think we could be friends? Do you and Michael Lombardi and Scott Pioli and Matt Patricia and Josh McDaniels and Nick Saban all hang out and ride bikes on Nantucket together and barbecue? I think you all should take over a new organization next season - maybe the Giants or the Bills. Maybe you could bring on Ed Reed as a coach too since you two are boys.

What was your favorite season? I thought your coaching was most impressive in 2011 when the defense was banged up and not necessarily that good, but still made it to the Super Bowl. Who were your favorite players to coach? I think it was Jamie Collins because you signed him 4 times - that was a record. Remember when he used to jump over the line on field goal attempts? Did you teach him that? Also Nate Ebner was a good player that I think you liked - not having him in the 2017 season made it tough to win a Super Bowl. Special Teams is sweet.

What was your favorite in game decision ever? Was it taking the safety against the Broncos in Denver? Curious the situation there - you were down 1 at your own 1 yard line after getting pinned deep - if you were down 2 do you think it would've been the same call? What if you were down 5? Luckily it wasn't Jake Plummer playing that game - his naked boot was dangerous.

Do you think the team started to fall off after no longer having lefty punters? From Ken Walter to Ryan Allen, and some Zoltan Mesko sprinkled in there, that may have been a bigger part to the Dynasty than folks realize - after you all went right footed, it went down hill. Does Ernie like left footed punters too?

I have many more questions but hope to start there - I'll write this note and hand it to Pat at GameDay and maybe he can read it to you on Monday. Hope to hear back from you soon.

Best,

Dan
